2014 Flea Markets

Winter is officially here. We have had a couple of snow storms, a deep freeze, and 32.1 degree rain here in NJ. It doesn't get any more official than that.

If you haven't noticed, I have been a bit absent in my writing here. It was a busy fall trying to squeeze in family life, plug building and even some fishing. Imagine that! So I had a late start to my winter plug building, but I am hoping for a few solid weekends to make up for lost time. And considering that the flea markets start in almost a month, I don't have many weekends left.

I am going to do the flea markets a bit different this year. I am not going to bring any of the usual line up of lures. So if you are looking to stock up on 1 1/2 oz needlefish, 1 3/4 oz darters, 3 oz Metal Lip Swimmers, etc, I suggest you hit up any of the awesome dealers that sell Choopy Lures.

So if I am not bringing the usual suspects, what will I be bringing? Good question. I have had a few plugs in my back pocket for a bit, and I thought this might be a good opportunity to share them with you guys. I will be bringing two styles of needlefish, the 2H darter and a 5" jointed pike. If I have time there will be a deep diving swimmer that makes an appearance as well. I am going to write up a blog about the specifics of these in the coming weeks.

So to update where I am at in the process (picture proof to the right!):

The needlefish are turned, drilled, weighted, sanded, painted, and clear coated. There are now sitting in a box waiting for me to go pour lead and assemble and wire them.
 
The darters have been drilled, rough turned, floated and marked. Today should see them get turned, sanded and lip cut.

The jointed pikes have been turned. Today I should get the final jigs made so I can drill and shape the heads.

So while I get my act together and build, build, build, you can mark your calendars on where you can pick these lures up. I will be at the following flea markets. Please stop by and check out these new lures, or just hang out and talk for a bit.
